History of Sky Bar

The Sky Bar was first introduced in 1938 by the New England Confectionery Company (“NECCO”). The molded chocolate bar revolutionized confectionery technology, as the first chocolate to have multiple different flavor centers. Chocolate bars of a similar molded form had started popping up around the early 1900s, but none had the same internal complexity of the Sky Bar. It was first launched with a sky-writing campaign that left pedestrians wide-eyed, as they gazed at puffy white letters strewn across a bright blue sky. Since then, the Sky Bar has been an iconic American candy, appearing everywhere from household pantries to the popular 2009 film, The House of The Devil.
